Gardening can be for anyone

Last year I started venturing in the gardening "business". I transformed my balcony in a herb and vegetable garden. And with the help of my grandmother and her super useful tips, I was ecstatic to witness all the seeds I planted come to life. My garden included basil, dill, 2 types of spring onions and yellow cherry tomatoes.

Sadly I started the experiment in late summer, and the cold autumn nights were right around the corner, so I couldn't keep much of my harvest alive. An indoor garden is not a solution as there was a lot of humidity inside the apartment, and a lot of flies started to appear out of no where. Some of plants ended up drying out and I couldn't save them.

So I promised myself that this year I'll start early and I will share my results with anyone interested in a "floating" garden.

Last year’s basil and dill pots

First task is to wait for the temperatures to rise, especially during the nights. The temperature must not be under 0 degrees Celsius, otherwise our plants will freeze. My goal is to start planting as soon as the night temperatures are over 5 degrees (for at least 3 nights in a row), just to be safe. So stay tuned for my next gardening tips. I will also share with you in a future post what I'm planning to plant this year.
